(SNES) Mars this weekend

Hi Group,

Mars this weekend will still be big and bright (18.5", and mag, -1.8). Also,
there will be favorable alignments of both Phobos and Deimos on BOTH nights
at around 10 to 11 PM. On Friday at 10 PM both moons will be about the same
distance from Mars, about 15" to the planet's NW. On Saturday night, Phobos
will again be about 15" out (near its maximum) but Deimos, the fainter of the
two, will be about 53" away in the same direction (again NW).

So we will again have a great chance to catch these little guys. For finding
them I'm sure that we still have a few tricks up our sleeves! (Ernie??) The
big question, as usual, will be the atmosphere. (I haven't had a chance to
observe Mars since last Saturday night, but reports are that the dust storm
is still raging, so surface detail may again be hit or miss.)

Hope to see many of you at FDO!
Doug Stewart
