How true! Last Saturday some guests were wondering if the stars they saw next 
to Mars in the eyepiece were the same ones they saw when they looked up at 
Mars in the sky. We take so much for granted, as experienced observers, that 
it's sometimes difficult to step back into the shoes of the novice!

Even Hank's "fast" f/4.5 20" Dobsonian has a fairly limited view. Using a low 
power eyepiece (like FDO's 2" 40mm Konig) even his scope can only see a bit 
over 1 degree of sky - about two Moons width. The famous California Nebula, 
however, extends nearly 2.5 degrees!
