I understand this is an astronomy group, although I have experienced very little astronomy as of late. What the heck has happened with our weather???
That ones is easy, Barry! There was a period when it required the actual appearance of a new piece of hardware to trigger a monsoonal response.
All that is now passe. The Internet has augmented this effect. When several folks actually sent in orders for neatsy keen things like 12" LX200s and whomping great dobsonians AND were careless enough to mention this without carefully disguising what they were purchasing, made epic thunderstorms all but certain. Sort of virtuality overtakes reality concept. In fact, I am greatly concerned that the mere consideration of telescope purchases by more than two persons within a 100 mile radius of FDO is sufficient to cause dense weekend fog for at least a month.
I am planning to post a serious warning about too many FDOers considering purchases at the same time. The last time this happened we triggered Huricane Bob.
