Equipment Astroscan & Questar

I had both the Astroscan and the Questar out. I knew that Venus and the Moon in the same wide angle view was worth a look so I popped up and out with my AStroscan. Setup time is about 30 seconds. After about 60 seconds of looking at the Moon's terminator I decided the air was clear and rock steady. Back into the house for the Questar and the heavy tripod. Setup time perhaps 5 minutes because the blankety blank threading knob is carefully placed where I can barely reach it.

Fantastically clear and steady. Cassini's division at 78 power was solid, unwavering and circled Saturn. Titan remained visible in the ever
brightening dawn until I went in to write this note. I could barely see
Saturn with the naked eye and the background was definitely blue in the eyepiece but Titan was clear, pointlike and steady.

Venus was clear and Gibbous and its usual dull self. Jupiter and the Galilean Moons were spectacular. At 78x I could make out at least 6 bands. They stayed clear until I went in too.

If anything the Moon was most spectacular. With the terminator far advanced toward the leading limb, craters far inside the dark area could be seen. All over the edge I could see crystal clear circlets of light. Capelle was nice and showed multiple Airy disks. Ditto Aldebaron, Betalgeuse, Rigil, Castor, and Pollux.
