(SNES) Observing tonight, Saturday

Hi Gang,

Wow, isn't it spectacular out there this evening? The crowd down at Ninigret 
Park attending the Rhythm and Roots Festival must be VERY pleased!

Unfortunately, none of them will get to meet any of us tonight, as we just 
couldn't
work out a plan for opening the observatory that made sense to everyone. 
There was a lot of concern about crowd control, unruly types, etc., (there IS 
liquor being served, in copious quantities). So despite the strong desires of 
several staffers to get some time in, mostly as a work & training session, 
FDO will be kept buttoned up tight for the weekend. We'll all just have to 
find other viewing locations and other gear with which to enjoy the night sky.

A few nights ago I had quite a successful observing session studying double 
and multiple stars. This is something you can do successfully in the 
brightest moonlight, so I'll be brewing up a big pot of java and heading out 
right around dark - could be an eventful all nighter right here in Webster, 
MA! 

I hope others can get out and enjoy the heavens, even if FDO is out of reach 
for the time being.
