Well it seems I shoulda stayed in bed today.  Dave, Doug's original post
regarding PA is precisely what you should read.  He covered the subject in
depth for its applications to astronomy - your concerns.  My post was merely
a little journey into history.  It relates specifically to the topic of
celestial navigation.  Please don't attempt to apply the information in that
post astronomically, as it was not meant for that purpose.  If you are
confused, please re-read Doug's post, then if you have any questions, I'm
sure there are several of us who would be more than pleased to help you
clear up any confusion.

Again, my apologies for adding to the confusion.
