Re: (SNES) Re: Dark Adaption & CCDs

Hello Satish

I must apologize to you if you have understood my opinions as an attack
on you or anybody else for that matter. And please to not consider
yourself as an "Outsider". You will always be welcome to FDO as will all
astronomers with or without telescopes. I am also sure that the staff of
the observatory will always do everything under their power to help you
with your needs.

What appears to be argument here is a bunch of friends exchanging ideas.
I for one may have misunderstood comments by both Joe and Doug
concerning a couple points, and voiced my opposition to what I believed
was being said. I may have misunderstood but on the other hand feel what
I said was right concerning the FDO Mission. BTW, I am not a veteran of
this hobby or of FDO and look to Joe, Doug and Les as well as the rest
of the FDO staff for guidance and hold them all in high regard.

I think you will find that these things make the staff happy.

1. Lots of names in the evening log book.
2. Plenty of new visitors who enjoy seeing and learning about
astronomy.
3. The side lot and parking lot full of astronomers
enjoying our wonderful sky. And making friends with them.
4. And some quality time at the eyepiece without the presures of
visitors. Either at FDO or some where else.

So come out from behind that rock and feel at home.

Stars in your eyes,
Barry Martasian

PS. One last comment about your statement, "I am perhaps the only one
who is currently engaged in active CCD imaging from FDO and thus
"affected" by this issue". In a way this is not true. The observatory
owns CCD imaging equipment but because of viewing times and other
logistical problems has a tough time being able to pull the "stuff" out
of the closet to use it. This is another one of those frustrations we
live with. Thank god we are a group of people who can speak our minds
with each other. (a real positive strength the people at FDO have)
