Re: (SNES) O. R., November 26, 2001

Hi Barry,

Well, you certainly had a fine night out there, despite the bright moonlight!
A fellow over on IAAC (Lew Gramer's "other" group) was trying to observe last
night from England, using a new 10" f/4.8 scope. He was after the spiral
galaxy M74 (Pisces) and Comet Linear WM1 (in Aries) among other targets - and
suffered from the moonlight just as you did. In fact, he couldn't find either
object.

Still, it's nice to get out and enjoy the sky when it's balmy and relatively
clear, as it was last night. After all, that awful winter cold and grayness
is sure to be just around the corner!

It doesn't look too encouraging in the way of clear skies for the rest of the
week, but I'll remain hopeful that we can catch the occultation of Saturn on
Friday evening.

Thanks for the report,
Doug Stewart
