(SNES) FDO - (Not) Tonight?

Hi Everyone,

The Cloud Cover Clock is ticking loudly - saying that it's probably NOT wise
to include FDO in our plans for tonight. There may be an occasional sunny
break this afternoon, especially down along the coast, but it seems unlikely
that it will be clear enough to open tonight. Certainly not worthy of a long
drive by anyone.

Diehards hoping for a look at the Moon / Saturn occultation can take a peak
outside around 7:30 PM - the occultation actually starts at about 7:44, and
ends 62 minutes later (8:46 PM) as Saturn emerges from behind the Moon. You
might just get a break in the clouds long enough to get a look (you'll need a
small scope to see anything significant).

As noted earlier by a few folks, even if it were to be clear tonight, the
occultation would be about the only thing of interest to observe - as the
99.9% illuminated moon will be blazing away at it's maximum possible
brightness, magnitude -12.7, just a few hours past full. That's over 80,000
times brighter than Saturn - which is also near it's maximum brightness of
-0.5!

Hoping for better weather next Friday, when the Moon won't rise until 11:45
PM,
Doug Stewart
