(SNES) Yes, it did clear last night......

Hi Everyone,

Just as predicted by our Canadian weather friends, we did get some clearing
here in Webster late last night ...........but it was only a few holes in the
overcast, and they lasted only for short intervals. I managed to spot a few
stars, as well as brilliant Jupiter, but nary a Geminid. :o(

Early this afternoon at least 50 percent of the continental US is cloud free
- unfortunately we're in the wrong half! Rain is falling over much of
southern New England, and it is expected to intensify, lasting most of the
day and coming night. Could be worse - if it was cold enough to SNOW!

Looking at the FDO Clear Sky Clock, we see that the clearest skies in weeks
are due TOMORROW night, Saturday - and no Moon in sight! So those of us
feeling deprived of observing time will just have to get the scopes out in
our back yards and enjoy. Or (as Barry has reminded us) perhaps visit our
friends at Skyscrapers in North Scituate. Their observatory will be open for
public observing starting at 7:30 PM. They are located on Peeptoad Road,
about 1/3 mile in from Rt. 116. (Their new website address is
www.theskyscrapers.org.) A small group of their members joined us down at FDO
on Leonids night, 11/18.

Better luck next Friday!
Doug Stewart
