Re: (SNES) Earth is "Grazed" by an asteroid!

Hi Barry and Doug,

Can you imagine what it must be like living in the same neighboorhood as that guy in New Jersey that has so many Christmas decorations on his property that the power company had to run an industrial power substation and high voltage lines into the suburb? It is probably darker
in beautiful down town Las Vagas.

For some other ideas I seen mentioned which I fervently hope never come to pass - lets start with hanging strings of Christmas lights in a teepee arrangement from cell phone towers. The Russians had a really crazy idea about installing mirrors in orbit to illuminate Siberia in the winter. Or we could do what NASA does, vaporize sheets of sodium and lithium high in the Earth's atmosphere where the Sun's UV will cause them to floresce. And lest we forget, our very own Buddy-the-mayor's idiotic plan to give tax breaks to anyone who lights up the sky.

Hi Barry,

I have the same problem here around my house. It's bad enough that everyone has fallen in love with those curtains of "icicle" lights, hanging them all over their houses. Now they've added flasher devices so that the whole neighborhood blinks like a carnival midway! It's really limited my deep sky work, making me long even more for the dark skies of FDO - especially on these weekend nights! As it is I spend most of my time on doubles and variables - and of course the occasional Earth grazing asteroid!

Hope you're feeling better soon and that I'll see you down at FDO,
:o)
Doug
