(SNES) Tonight at FDO

Hi Everyone,

The weather forecast for tonight for my home town (Webster) is for "mostly
clear with a chance of snow flurries" - so go figure! :o)

Seriously, it looks like we've got a pretty good chance for some decent
viewing down at Frosty Drew. Look at the Moon just after sunset. It will be
25% illuminated, in the southwest sky, 5 degrees due south of the fading red
planet Mars. Both will be visible in the same binocular view.

The moon sets at 9:45, so the sky will get very dark after that. Until then
the bright planets Jupiter and Saturn will be riding high in the sky, nearly
unaffected by the moonlight. Later in the night, well after moonset, we have
hopes of tracking down two of Jupiter's faint tiny moons, Amalthea - less
than the planet's width from Jupiter, and Himalia - nearly 50 times farther
out!

As always, guests are encouraged to come down any time from 6:30 on and to
bring whatever of their own equipment they like. As always, dress VERY warmly!

Hope to see many of you there,
:o)
Doug Stewart
