Re: (SNES) Some Thoughts To Share...
Les
This was actually written to answer my wife's question properly.
I couldn't agree more. I absolutely couldn't. I even went a half step
further, I joined the Navy with serious thoughts about becoming an
astronaut. Really. Unfortunately, my body thought otherwise. I cannot
breathe above 11,000 feet without great distress and at 13,000, even
with attempts at acclimatization I phase out. Even today, when I make
trips out West to put yet another Observatory under my belt, I have to
check the altitude. When my wife and I planned a vacation to Hawaii, she
was startled when I didn't make any hints about seeing the twin Kecks.
I merely mumbled "Too high, Mauna Kea is over 14,000 feet."
The spring I will put two more major Observatories on my notched belt -
Mount Graham, AZ (where the Large Binocular Telescope is being built)
and the Very Large Array on the high plateau west of Socorro NM.
As far as I am concerned, the space program and astronomy are
inextricably interwoven. I welcome anything about either.
