(SNES) An Old Goat's Observing Goals

Over the past 50 years or so I have enjoyed many new observing
experiences. Last night was such an experience as I saw my first Saturn
occultation by the moon. Before I permanently retire to the elephants'
graveyard (are goats allowed?), I hope to snag some long sought after
objects, namely:

1. The Horsehead Nebula -- searched many times for it in my 6" f/4 and a
couple of times with FDO's 16" . Hope to see it before Orion departs in
a month or so.

2. Phobos and Deimos -- Looked for these elusive Martian moons at FDO
through the 16", Hank's 20", and Art's 10". Perhaps 2003 will finally
yield positive results-- with an eyepiece occulting bar!

3. The Pup -- I'm sure we'll nab it at FDO soon (weather permitting--ha
ha). I'm going to try spotting it with my 6" f/8 and an eyepiece
occulting bar.

4. Venus Transit-- None of us have seen this, a true first. Observed and
photographed two Mercury transits in the early '70s-- VERY NICE!
