(SNES) Eyepiece Cleaning
Being from the "old" school, I clean my eyepieces with alcohol and a
"Q-Tip" after blowing them off with a syringe bulb or dusting with a
camel hair brush. Although this usually gives acceptable results,
sometimes it appears the alcohol leaves residue even though I use a very
small amount of it. Okay-- how do you folks clean your optics? This old
dog is open to new tricks if they do the job. Also, has anyone had
experience with how to correct a primary mirror that is pinched in its
cell? My 6" f/4 star test image reverses orientation on either side of
focus, indicative of a pinched primary. Obviously I can't loosen the
mirror's retaining clips too much; they are as when I bought the scope
in '72.
