(SNES) Galaxy Viewing

After a night of galaxy observing at FDO Friday --FINALLY-- I have
definitely decided a scope bigger than my 6" is in order. Seeing was far
from ideal Friday night; I noticed light pollution from the north
stretching nearly to the zenith. To the south,  M65 & M66 were very
blasi in my 6", and M95 barely detectable.  Surprisingly, M51 was a fine
sight, one of the best,  in my 6" f/4 at 100X.  I hope the move up to a
10" f/4 will be a "quantum leap," and not a $1000 "quantum heap!"  Hope
Les got some planetary alignment shots, Doug and I had camera
difficulties.
