(SNES) Light Pollution Blues

Hi Everyone!

Like all of us, I missed not having the fairly dark skies of FDO Friday
night. Saturday evening I broke out my 6" RFT here in Pawcatuck in an
attempt to locate galaxies, but could only make out the dim smudge of
M51. Couldn't see one galaxy in Coma Ber. or CVN even though I was
looking right at them. Higher power did help some with globulars M13 and
M92. A wideband LPR gave modest improvements. I have a friend in NH who
has a dark site, hope to get up there this summer or fall. The Meade
LXD-55 SN 10" is now on the market, waiting to read user' reviews before
buying. This scope would be a waste of money for my downtown skies, but
should be great at FDO. Too bad we can't have a VFN before Mr. moon does
his monthly whiteout act. BTW, watch out for those alligators, Doug.
