Real interesting Les.  Thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately I have to admit that most of the time i'm whipping around 
the sky with my LX200 checking objects out at such a high rate, that I 
sometimes feel I miss a lot.  I may not be 'observing', but 'looking' 
instead.  The last few times i've gone out, i've tried to stay more 
focused and spend some time on each object.  I hope to visit doubles more 
often in the future, as i've found splitting difficult pairs, and 
comparing a pair's color on different nights to be quite interesting.

I just started to grind a mirror for a homebrew 6" truss dob.. there are a 
lot of reasons for this.  The experience of doing it, the weight, the 
portability, and most of all.. it FORCES me to star hop. :) Actually it'll 
be nice to have a scope with pretty good aperture to drag along with me to 
the southern hemisphere someday.

This weekend looks pretty good so far. Lets hope the weather continues to 
be as nice as it has been.  If any of you will be at Stellafane, maybe 
i'll run into you this weekend!
