(SNES) Perseids
Hi
Perseus, hero extraordinary, met his match last night. Walking in on little
cats paws, the fog made viewing all but
impossible last night. By 6AM, the valley below my hilltop home was
obliterated, but the sky had been saturated all night.
There was a brief period between 3 and 4 when stars as dim as the 4th
magnitude could be seen, but only overhead.
There was a general sky shinewhich further reduced visibility.
I estimate that I could see roughly 15-25 meteors per hour, with only three
really nice golden fireballs. The meteors
seemed to travel much slower than the Leonids last fall.
The major shower will occur today over the Pacific and Asia. We'll get
another chance tommorrow. All in all I was glad that I made a backyard
session of it rather than hauling lawn chairs and what have you to FDO.
