(SNES) Perseids Schmerceids
Sure as you are born, my alarm clock woke me at 2:30. Two yawns, a tug on a
shirt and few shrugs into my pants had me decently attired. I grabbed my
gear and headed by a circuitous route avoiding all the motion detector
lights strung about the neighborhood to my local zone of relative darkness.
All of course for nearly naught, zippo, nada, nichts and nothing at all
whatsoever. The fog seemed to only need the presence of a single observer to
coalesce into a nearly impentrable goo. An honest soaking from rain ladden
clouds would have been welcome but a fog which hung 30 feet above the ground
was infuriating. The warmth of the ground kept the dew point at bay for the
said 30 feet but then spent, let the dew do what it does so well. During a
happenstantial brief nonce, the opacity thinned enough so that I was able to
discern Pegasus' Square and Cassiopiea's W. A single golden meteor flashed
across taunting me with the knowledge that in more fortune climes, an
erstwhile observer might actually see something worthy of a few hours of
lost sleep. C'est la vie.
Hope someone out there had a better night. And I hope no one packed up and
drove to a remote and fog bound site in vain.
