Hi Ernie,

FDO, like almost every locale in America, is certainly threatened by
encroaching light pollution. But the deterioration - if it occurs as many
fear - should be slow. And even if it does occur I expect that FDO will STILL
be darker than just about anywhere else in southern New England. But
enthusiasts of dark skies will have to remain vigilant and vocal in their
opposition to any further degradation of our skies.

Waiting on the 10" scope to see what happens at FDO could mean many years
without a bigger scope. And as we have all found, aperture rules. Regardless
of your viewing location I'm sure that the 10" would consistently outperform
either of your smaller Newts. We've always found this to be true with FDO's
16" - even when skies are poor it reveals an amazing amount of neat stuff,
far more than 10", 11" and 12" scopes out in the yard.

Good luck with the approaching new moon cycle!

:o)
