(SNES) HST Orbit
About 8 years ago, I wrote a program in Commodore Basic to continuously
display the position of the HST on a map of the world in Mercator's
projection for any user-defined time interval (default every 10').
Although not super sophisticated, the program did allow for the main
orbital peturbration for Earth satellites known as J2.
Unfortunately, at the time, I did not have access to a reference such as
heavensabove.com to check my predicted positions against. This leaves me
with either trying to hook up my old C-64 and updating the program with
more up-to-date HST orbital parameters, or scanning the printout of my
C-64 code into my PC and attempt to alter the code to work in visual
basic or DOS basic. I assume I can find a map of the world somewhere to
download on the internet? With the normal cloudy weather, there's not
much opportunity for "live" observing!
