(SNES) I hate being the only one.

On Thursday evening I posted the following message:

North Kingstown, RI

"At approximately 8:10 PM tonight I was outside talking to a friend when
there was a flash of light similar to lightning. As I looked up to the
sky I spotted a large greenish meteor breaking into two separate pieces.
It was so bright I could see it even with a 100% cloud cover. Sorry I
can not give any directional info as I was in a part of town that I was
not familiar with and had no idea in what direction I was looking. ( my
guess would be that It was traveling North to East, but this is just a
guess)"

I posted this message to snegazers and to SAA. and basically got zero
feed back except one poster in SAA who was wondering if this could have
been something from the ISS. Everybody else on SAA was contributing to
threads like, Astronomy and Religion, or the importances of Toilet
paper.

Now please don't get me wrong. I am not whining because my post
didn't get any attention, (not much any way lol).
What really bothers me about this whole thing is that I saw something
very special and had nobody to share it with. The two people who I was
talking to had their backs to it but saw the flash of light reflect off
of the ground around us. This was something in its self because we were
standing in a parking lot that had several lights lighting it up.

I'm sure everybody here knows the feeling. It is like going to a real
good movie or eating a great meal all by yourself. You want others to
experience the same experience to validate your impressions and joy. I
got Nada here.

So......what have I learned from this???
I experienced seeing perhaps the biggest and brightest meteor or piece
of space junk falling from the sky on this night that I have ever laid
eyes on in all of my life. Surely the night was a pathetic one when it
comes to doing any sort of astronomy because Rhode Island was socked in
with wall to wall clouds. Nobody does astronomy on such night. I wish
somebody else could have experienced this with me. It is like that old
song, "You Can't Roller Skate Through a Heard of Buffalo" by Roger whats
his name?. This one is like, "You Can't do Astronomy on Cloudy Nights
Unless You Are Watching the Stars on TV".

Stars in your eyes,
Barry
