Re: (SNES) C'est la Vie
I too had hoped for a better showing, but nevertheless
I was not completely underwhelmed. Several of us had
planned to go to the north part of the county and
watch from a moonlit but non-light polluted area.
Approaching clouds convinced my wife and I to head to
a closer alternate area. We were treated to a shower
that was better than any I've seen outside of last
year's Leonids. I didn't keep count but the total was
perhaps 150 in the area we could see. Fortunately the
clearest hole in the clouds was Leo! Even with no
moon, I don't think it would have matched last year's
show. Had it been one day earlier, we would have had
extremely clear and cold weather and spotted more. As
it is, we were bothered by that most cherished of
Pensacola institutions, 'voracia persistens', the
local sparrow-sized mosquito. What does it take to
kill these things off??!! I still reckon I saw 98% of
the meteors I'll ever see last year, .5% last night
and have 1.5% left to go.
Clear skies,
Ed Magowan
