(SNES) Mars daytime sighting
I think we have several factors making a Mars
observation difficult. It's bright only near
opposition, therefore daylight observation means near
morning or evening twilight and low in the sky. Its
distant and dim at quadrature, whereas Jupiter and
Saturn are not. Last spring was an outstanding
apparition of Mercury for 300 North, but I was still
unable to spot it, partly because spring means only
fair transparency for us at best. I envy you with
your clear skies, it was good this past July to see
the summer Milky Way in actual summer instead of 3AM
in April. I hope to get some daylight video of
Jupiter and Saturn and process some decent images from
it. My only opportunity is on the weekend and we
havent had a weekend without clouds and/or rain in
months. It's been a poor winter for astronomy all
over the country from what I've been reading on
various user groups.
