RE: (SNES) Daylight Sighting of Saturn

Les, this has been an interest of mine since I first
saw Venus in daylight at Misquamicut back in the days
of wooden optics. The technique I use now is to aim
my (properly filtered of course) scope at the sun, set
the setting circles and move the scope to the
coordinates of the planet.

I thought I was the only one left to use setting circles to locate objects
in day or night skies. Venus is easy, but Jupiter seems dependent on time
of day and elongation from sun, as mentioned in a back issue of S&T. Never
tried Mars in daytime, and had no luck with Saturn.
