Do you have the star right? As close as I can tell, Mars never gets closer than about a
degree from mu Gem in this
period of time.

58 Sgr doesn't seem a very likely candidate for being occulted by Saturn. It lies almost 5
degrees from the ecliptic. I strongly think that you mean 28 Sgr which was occulted

The only occulation of Saturn in 2002 visible from our area was Feb 23 around 2AM. Could
you have the year wrong?
There was a occultation of Saturn in 2001 visible from our area on Sep 10 in the daylight
hours (about 1PM) and
another on Dec 1 at 2AM.
