(SNES) Happy News Items in S&T
Hi Everyone,
Two items in the May issue of S&T are pleasant departures from sturm und drang haranging
our eyes and ears.
In focal point, the article describes the successful hunt for the Nov 15, 1953 photograph
by Leon Stuart of a meteor hitting the Moon. Long pooh-poohed by some astronomical naybobs
who should have known better, subsequent sightings have shown that telescopes no bigger
than the ones we routinely use can indeed see meteor strikes if they happen against a dark
surface. NASA now confirms that a very new crater exists exactly where the photo indicated.
Crater Stuart anyone. I certainly think it is amply deserved.
The second small joyous occasion is that Lumicon has risen from the ashes of oblivion with
its purchase by Parks. Once again we'll be able to buy filters and what have you from this
excellent small firm. It will live on under the corporate aegis of Parks. I'm glad a really
reputable company has bought the name and intends to continue the tradition.
