(SNES) While you were sleeping ...
Hi,
Just call Rip Van Winkle. I woke up this morning not only to the onerous duty of changing
the clocks but to the news that six more moons of Jupiter had been found. "Oh!" thinks your
humble servant "that means Jupiter must have about 36 altogether." However the article (in
a usually reliable $4.50 per Sunday issue newspaper), relieved me of this calculation that
it brought the official total to 58. Yikes! Somewheres along the line I had lost track of
22 moonlet discoveries.
I think we need a computer applet which posts the number of planets (currently being
redebated since a KBO greater than 1000 km has been found) and moons there-of is posted.
According to the Discovery Channel, hosted by David Levy of Shoemaker-Levy fame, they have
found the "asteroid with our name on it" which is on a collision course just 900 years or
so in the future. It is the same diameter as the smallest yet discovered moon of Jupiter -
both about a mile across.
Meanwhile, I have to go back to the bi-yearly task of finding all the clocks and timers.
Let's see, I wonder if our running shoes include timing elements? I know that our
refrigerator, dehumidifier, telephone hand set are all reset (no gag, each of them has a
clock or timer) but what timings lurk in the hearts of countless household annoyances
(appliances?). The Shadow Knows perhaps, but unlike Lamont Cranston I'm totally befuddled.
